‘Law & Order: SVU’: Chris Meloni in several episodes of the 22nd season

Did Elliot Stabler miss his old team more than he appeared?

Chris Meloni’s character will appear in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit in addition to its appearance on Thursday, April 1, the procedural showrunner recently unveiled.

On Friday, executive producer Warren Leight tweeted that his show had filmed “three Benson / Stabler scenes today”. When a viewer asked when these scenes were going to air, Leight replied, “Yesterday’s scenes were for a SVU on the road.”

As previously reported, the Stabler will return to SVU in an episode entitled “Return of the prodigal son”. That hour, when the unit supports Stabler as he tries to track down someone who is threatening his family, will serve as the first half of a crossover that leads to the premiere of Law and Order: Organized Crime. OC will follow that of Chris Meloni SVU character when he returns to the New York City Police Department following what the official program logline calls “devastating personal loss”. As he begins to put the pieces of his life together, he joins a high-level task force with the aim of dismantling the city’s largest crime syndicates.

But how many times will the Stabler appear after the crossover? This part is a little less clear, although TVLine knows that Meloni and Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia, were seen filming at least two post-crossover episodes.

No word yet on when Elliot’s additional episode (s) will air. TVLine contacted NBC for comment.
