Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler will make his return to Law and order universe soon when its new spin-off Law and Order: Organized Crime debut as part of a crossover event with Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (where Meloni’s Stabler harassed suspects for 12 years before quietly leaving between seasons), but this may not be the last time the two shows are together. According Deadline, SVU showrunner Warren Leight offered a possible provocation recently in response to a question about future crosses between OC and SVU, saying that some scenes that were already filmed with Meloni were actually for a future SVU– although it is not clear whether this means that Meloni will be visiting his SVU friends again or there will be more complete CW superhero-style crossovers between the two shows.

Law and order in fact, crossovers have become quite common in the years since Meloni left, with NBC Chicago Blank shows doing tie-ins with SVU several times in each season now, but gathering OC and SVU more often it would mean having more chances to see Meloni’s and Mariska Hargitay’s Stabler SVU star Olivia Benson comes out again after so many years apart. Granted, most of their encounters are likely to involve solving horrible crimes (now with more mobsters!), But that’s pretty much all they did together at that time. Whatever happens, the Organized Crime / SVU the crossover night is coming up on April 1st.
