Launch window for Project Athia for PS5 announced

Athia Project is one of the most mysterious games in Square Enix’s next line of releases. As of now, we don’t know much about the title other than the fact that it was developed with PlayStation 5 hardware in mind. I mean, hell, the game doesn’t even have an official name yet. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like it will be long before we start hearing more about Athia Project based on some new information that has emerged.

During Sony’s presentation at CES 2021 today, a video was played that revealed Athia Project is scheduled to be released exactly a year from now, in January 2022. No new footage or gameplay of the title in action has been shown alongside this revelation, however. Square Enix also did not confirm the launch window for itself in any way.

Whereas so little is known about Athia Project, it was logical that this was a slightly more distant game. Again, Square hasn’t said much about the title and has yet to reveal a formal name for it. As such, I don’t think it would have surprised anyone if it were announced that it would not be released until the end of 2022 or even 2023. The fact that it is only one year means that we will probably start to learn more about it in short order.

Until then, however, there is still very little that we need to leave. Perhaps the most striking detail about Athia Project is that it will be a PS5-exclusive console for a full two-year period. The game is yet to arrive on the PC as well, but those using the Xbox apparently won’t be able to get their hands on it until 2024, at the very least.

Again, assuming this launch window is true, Square Enix will likely have more to share about Athia Project In the next months. When that happens, we’ll be sure to update you on the game’s development on our dedicated coverage hub right here.
