The launch of the COVID-19 vaccine in California – the most populous state in the United States – is proceeding at a slower pace than most, if not all, other states.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that California received 4.7 million doses of the vaccine – but administered only 1.8 million doses.
The data shows that he is distributing doses at a rate of approximately 4,565 per 100,000 people, which is slower than Texas, New York, Florida, Connecticut, Michigan, Georgia and many others.
Bloomberg data ranks California last among all 50 states in terms of the percentage of shots used (37.3%).
CDC data suggest a slightly higher percentage utilization rate of 38.2%.
QUESTION FROM HEALTH SPECIALISTS IN CALIFORNIA IF THE PROHIBITION OF OUTDOOR DINING IN THE STATE CONTRIBUTES TO THE OUTBREAK OF CORONAVIRUS
About 3.4% of the state’s nearly 40 million residents received a dose, according to The Los Angeles Times, ranking it 51 out of 59 U.S. states and territories. The publication data shows California behind only Missouri, Nevada and Alabama in terms of the number of first doses distributed.
A spokesman for the Newsom office did not respond to Fox News’ request for comment on the pace of the launch.
As previously reported by Fox News, Newsom recently applauded the state for its vaccine program, saying it had administered more than 40% of its vaccine doses to frontline workers and the state’s most vulnerable residents.
But Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., Characterized Newsom’s treatment with the distribution of the vaccine as “inept” during an interview with Fox News last weekend.
“We are very late in delivering the vaccine, [Newsom] “Vaccines are not being distributed quickly enough in California, there are freezers full of vaccines that are not being placed in people’s arms,” said Issa.

It should be noted, however, that California is currently dealing with one of the most serious virus outbreaks in the United States. It has more than 3 million confirmed cases to date.
In response, the state maintained a strict blocking orientation in place – a controversial choice that opened the Newsom administration further to criticism.
Many states in the United States have faced challenges in administering the vaccine.
Overall, in the USA, more than 39.8 million doses have been distributed – and 19.1 million administered, according to CDC data. Only about 2.7 million people received the two doses needed to maximize immunity.
President Biden has pledged to speed up the process – promising to distribute 100 million doses of the vaccine in 100 days.
