Rap star DMX is currently fighting for his life at a White Plains hospital in the New York area.
Although it has not been confirmed, one source said DMX suffered from an apparent overdose, while another told AllHipHop that the rap star had preexisting heart and lung problems that led to emergency hospitalization sometime last night (April 2) .
The same source said the 50-year-old rapper, born Earl Simmons, suffered a seizure, but fortunately doctors were able to bring him back to life, although he is supposed to be in a vegetative state.
Ruff Ryder’s drug addiction started when he was 14, after smoking a cigarette without knowing it with crack and he struggled with drugs for much of his adult life.
His drug problems have hindered his career several times.
In October 2019, the 20-year DMX tour was canceled after he decided to check into a rehab clinic in an attempt to sober up.
Despite his problems with substance abuse, DMX became one of the best rappers to play on the microphone, and he had a successful acting career as well.
DMX released seven studio albums, It’s dark and hell is hot (1998) Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood (1998) … And then there was X (1999), The Great Depression (2001), Big champion (2003), Ydog’s ear … again (2006), and Undisputed (2012).
DMX re-signed with Def Jam in 2019 and reportedly was working on a batch of material with Ruff Ryders in-house producer Swizz Beatz.
On the acting side, DMX starred alongside big stars like Aaliyah and Jet Li in films like “Belly” (1998), “Romeo Must Die” (1998), “Exit Wounds” (2001) and, more recently, “Fast and Fierce: Death Race ”(2020).
Last year, fans were excited to see DMX return to the spotlight during an epic battle with Snoop Dogg, as part of the popular Verzuz series by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.
A few days ago, DMX appeared to be healthy and in a good mood in a video posted by his fiancee, Desiree Lindstrom.
