We have seen a little more of the ROG Phone 5, the phone for Asus brand players, before its official announcement. Yesterday, a chip vendor blurted out that at least one model will be equipped with an incredible 18 GB of memory. Today, a leak on Twitter appears to show the phone in rendered form, revealing a white variant and a clipped cooler unit carried from the latest model, and what appears to be an array of LED dots on the back.

Assuming that the images posted by Ishan Agarwal they are legitimate – and certainly match last month’s leak – the RGB LEDs integrated into the back of the phone reflect another hardware design from Asus. The ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop includes a similar “aniMe Matrix” LED screen on its top cover as an attractive feature. If the rear of the ROG Phone 5 is similar, it would offer user-adjustable decorative settings and animations, such as an equalizer screen. Its practical applications would be quite limited, but the laptop uses it to show the date and status of the charge. The rendered photos show only the ROG eye logo.

The elegant white version shows a similar design. It is not clear from the renderings whether the additional slanted text and the arrow icons on the back are part of the rear LCD display shown in the previous leak, or if the dot matrix section is replacing it. for comparison, here is the previous video leak showing what is definitely an LCD screen, and which does not match the text and icons of the renderers above:

Of course, as all of this is not official, the video may be of a pre-production model with a design that has already been abandoned. It is also possible that there are different variants of the phone: one with a conventional LCD on the back, one with the dot matrix. Other details visible in the images are triple rear cameras and a bottom-mounted power port (best to keep your hands free for games), both remaining from the ROG Phone 3. There also appears to be a folding stand and buttons of some kind on the clip. -on the updated active cooler – maybe dedicated rear trigger buttons?

The style was adjusted, maintaining the angular approach with complete bezels (without notches or holes) and a new “GLHF!” decorative cover at the bottom. Based on the small hole, it can be a decided SIM card tray that subtly wants nothing. Asus is expected to officially announce the ROG Phone 5 tomorrow. Price and availability are not known, but “expensive” and “limited” seem like safe bets, respectively.
