Las Vegas sees large crowds, as casinos allowed 50% of capacity on Monday

Crowds were seen strolling the Las Vegas Strip on Saturday and guests gathered shoulder to shoulder inside Sin City casinos, as capacity restrictions are expected to ease to 50 percent on Monday.

Nevada’s ‘Roadmap to Recovery’ plan remains on schedule and Governor Steve Sisolak signed an emergency directive on Friday that eases restrictions on the state’s coronavirus, according to a press release.

The capacity of the gaming floors and other establishments will increase from 35 to 50 percent on Monday, as the state saw only 222 new cases with only one new death on Sunday, according to the state of health. Dice.

The governor’s announcement on Friday seemed to open up the repressed floodgates, encouraging people to play on the slots and at the tables after more than a year of restrictions, although official capacity rules do not come into effect until Monday.

In total, the state accounted for 299,287 cases with 5,118 deaths. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 989,342 doses of the vaccine were administered.

Casinos operated with a limited capacity of 25% from November until February 15, when they were able to open at 35% capacity, Travel + Leisure reported.

The capacity increase planned for Monday includes gyms and other fitness establishments, arcades, racetracks, bowling alleys, mini-golf, billiard rooms and amusement and theme parks.

“The positivity rate of the 14-day moving average test has been steadily decreasing, but it is still above the 5% limit recommended by WHO for reopening,” noted Sisolak in the executive order.

Thousands of guests were seen shoulder to shoulder inside casinos and stores, largely obeying the ‘please wear a mask’ signs, reported the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

A woman with a mask around her neck was informed by two employees in suits from The Cosmopolitan who put the mask on her face and she complied, the agency said.

Rows formed outside several bars while the air smelled of cigarettes and marijuana permeated the air.

Yolando Hagwood, 54, told the outlet that he was visiting Las Vegas for the first time since August 2019 and was wearing two masks.

“I think most companies are trying to join and still allow people to have fun,” said Hagwood.

‘You can’t face people. You will see people without masks. You will see people, not social distance. But you just try to do your part. ‘
