On Monday, page six reported that Larry King’s widow, Shawn King, planned to file court documents contesting his secret will. On Tuesday, his lawyers filed the documents in a Los Angeles court.
Larry, who died last month at the age of 87, filed for divorce from Shawn in 2019, and last week a handwritten “secret” will surfaced – which did not mention Shawn and left his $ 2 million estate to his children .
But 61-year-old Shawn claims in the new newspapers that Larry’s health problems made him susceptible to “outside influences” and that he might not even know he was signing the New Testament – moreover, she says that when he died, he was not, nor am I thinking of proceeding with the divorce.
“Larry was highly susceptible to outside influences and at the time he was supposed to execute the [new version of his will] he had questionable mental capacity, having suffered a stroke recently and about to undergo a medical procedure (and possibly already under the influence of preoperative medication), ”says the newspaper, according to Blast.
She is asking for a 2015 will – that she said that the Page Six was made by Shawn and Larry “as a couple” with the help of a lawyer – to be recognized as the true will and that she be named executor of the estate, for that document.
He wrote the new version of the will about two months after he filed for divorce, but Shawn suggested in court papers that the couple were about to be reconciled when he died.
“At the time of Larry’s death, there was a divorce case that had been pending for some time,” say the newspapers. “Larry was not pushing for divorce and, in general, did not respond and refused to participate in the divorce process. He gave no indication that he really wanted to file for divorce. “
According to Blast, Shawn says the New Testament “violates the terms of two different post-nuptial agreements between her and Larry”.
The documents also target Larry’s middle son, Larry King Jr.
The Blast reports that Shawn is “accusing Larry of having a ‘secret account’ that he would donate to individuals using the community property to which she is entitled, and that she claims to have receipts of more than $ 266,000 sent to Larry King Jr. between 2013 -2018. ”
The website says she wants back 50% of everything he gave Larry Jr. from the couple’s community property.
Larry Jr. also asked to be named executor of the estate, but Shawn’s files say: “Larry indicated that he didn’t even know [Larry Jr.’s] existence ”, until the son was in his 30s. They add that Larry Jr. “has never been involved in Larry’s career or business, and it would be highly inappropriate to put him in a position as a representative of Larry’s property.”
In the secret will, Larry said he wanted his property to go to his five children, Andy, Chaia, Larry Jr. and Chance and Cannon, his two children from his marriage to Shawn. Andy and Chaia died tragically weeks apart in 2020.
