Larry King left the ICU after being hospitalized with COVID-19 for more than 10 days, according to reports.

The broadcast legend, 87, was transferred from the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday.

He reportedly contracted the virus from a healthcare professional visiting his home, a source told NBC. One of his children, who was not identified, also tested positive, they said.

King’s old age and poor health are cause for concern and put him at high risk. He had several health problems and suffered a heart attack, prostate and lung cancer and type two diabetes.

The hospital’s protocols prevented King’s family members from visiting him. His 23-year-old wife, Shawn King, 61, and his two children, Chance and Cannon, cannot see him. He has another son, Larry Jr, 58, from his brief marriage to Annette Kaye,

The Peabody Award-winning broadcaster was among America’s most prominent interviewers of celebrities, presidents and other journalists during a half-century career that included 25 years with an evening program on CNN.

Last year, King lost two of his five children weeks apart. Son Andy King died of a heart attack at age 65 in August, and daughter Chaia King died of lung cancer at age 51 in July, Larry King said in a statement.

King’s granddaughter, Jillian, 31, said at the time that the presenter of the 87-year-old TV show was still recovering from his stroke and was unable to travel from Los Angeles due to the coronavirus, so he had to watch his son be buried in video.

The state Department of Public Health on Sunday reported another 181 deaths and more than 45,350 new confirmed COVID-19 cases across California, bringing the total number of cases to almost 2.4 million.

More than 26,530 people died of the virus in California, making it the third state to exceed 25,000 COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began, behind New York with nearly 38,000 deaths and Texas with more than 27,000, according to a count from Johns Hopkins University.

More than 20,600 people were hospitalized across California on Sunday with COVID-19; 4,500 of them were in intensive care, according to state records.

King and his wife are still legally married and say they are on good terms, despite the fact that they are in the process of divorce.

In August 2019, Larry filed for divorce from Shawn just five months after suffering a stroke.

Last month, it was learned that King agreed to pay his ex-wife Shawn $ 20,000 in a lump sum, plus $ 33,000 a month in child support.

The monthly payment – revealed in new court documents obtained by DailyMail.com – will last at least until the couple’s next hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court, scheduled for April 29 next year.

While $ 33,000 a month may seem like a large sum, it only covers about a third of Shawn’s monthly expenses, which she listed in court documents as just under $ 90,000.

This includes $ 25,000 per month for the rental of your luxury home, $ 12,000 for clothing, $ 3,500 for groceries, $ 4,500 for ‘hair, nails, pet care and the gym’, plus $ 6,300 per month for your home in Provo, Utah.

But then, Shawn confesses that he has more than $ 7 million in assets, including properties and savings.

In November 2019, Larry King told the news website Extra that he was recovering and spending two weeks in a coma after suffering a stroke the previous March.

– I had a stroke. Everything improved except [for] my left foot, and I have rehabilitated it every day, and they told me that I will be walking until Christmas, ‘he said.

In the interview, Larry reassured fans that his doctors were impressed by his positive attitude: ‘My chief physician said that I have an incomparable spirit.’

The Larry King Show star had a complex and historic love life, with eight marriages to seven women and five children.

He married Alene Akins twice, adopting his late son Andy during the first marriage and fathering his late daughter Chaia in the second.

After divorcing Alene in 1972, he married Freda Miller, Annette Kaye, Mickey Sutphin, Sharon Lepore, Julie Alexander and, most recently, Shawn Southwick in 1997.

Shawn, who was the mother of Larry’s two youngest children, Chance, 21, and Cannon, 20, has joked that she is’ the only one [wife] to have lasted in double digits’.

The couple filed for divorce in 2010, but then tore up the papers – only to file for divorce again in August 2019, after 22 years of marriage.

In 2009, Larry revealed that he had another child named after him, which he had not recognized for 33 years.

Larry King Jr, born from his brief marriage to Annette Kaye, first appeared in public with his father on ‘Larry King Live’ 11 years ago.

The TV presenter said at the time that he met his estranged son, 58, in 1994.

Larry Jr. is married, has three children and worked as head of the King Foundation for heart disease in California.
