LAPD loses veteran employee to COVID-19, the agency’s fourth death from viruses

LOS ANGELES (KABC) – The Los Angeles Police Department is mourning the loss of its fourth employee who succumbed to the coronavirus.

Police service representative Raymond L. Guerrero, a 24-year-old LAPD employee assigned to the Communications Division, died Thursday of complications related to COVID-19, according to a police statement released on Saturday.

He leaves his wife, who is also a PSR in the department’s Communications Division, and two daughters, officials said.

Guerrero “has dedicated his career to ensuring that all service calls made by members of the community we serve are answered. We appreciate your service and will be missed very much,” officials said in a statement.

“The impact of COVID-19 was devastating for this department and for this city,” said Chief Michel Moore. “Guerrero’s death marks the fourth official who fell from this deadly pandemic, leaving another hole in our hearts.”
