LANE COUNTY, Oregon .– Governor Kate Brown on Monday announced her goal of increasing COVID-19 vaccinations to 12,000 vaccines a day, challenging OHA to meet that standard over a two-week period.
Many are wondering when their turn will come.

“Governor Brown set a very high standard,” said Lane County Public Health spokesman Jason Davis. “To achieve this, we will need a multifaceted hybrid model, where we have vaccinations taking place at several different levels.”
The county has plans for mass vaccination efforts in the future, such as drive-thru events where community members can receive their first dose quickly and efficiently.
Davis also said that Public Health could intervene with mobile health units in Phase 1B, as well as indoor vaccination events. Lane County Public Health has not yet received the COVID-19 vaccines, but they are working hand in hand with state leaders. They said they will be ready when the time comes.
Dr. James McGovern is the Vice President of Medical Affairs at PeaceHealth. He said that his employees’ vaccination is more than half.
“I think vaccines are not coming out as fast as we would like,” said McGovern. “We would love to have everyone vaccinated tomorrow. We are certainly working hard, but they are here. They are going for weapons and people are being vaccinated ”.
McGovern hopes that by summer a significant portion of the community will be vaccinated. So far, they have managed to sue 500 people a day.
“We built an engine that works very well,” said McGovern. We just need the gas – the vaccine to keep it going. We have achieved a stable enough supply to keep up with our current demand. “
Davis said about 4,300 people were vaccinated in Lane County, but that number is probably higher due to contracts that some pharmacies have.
“We are at the end of the line when it comes to vaccine delivery,” said Davis. “It starts with our federal partners, goes to the State and the State has worked with the municipalities. You can be sure that Lane County will be ready for action as soon as we have the vaccine available in large doses to the general public. “
