Lance Reddick is a famous actor, with important roles in The Wire and John Wick, Among other things. He is also the voice of DestinyCommander Zavala, and apparently nothing above giving fans the dubbing requests for the memes they sent him.
That’s what he did yesterday when Destiny xMechanizex player sent him a meme taken from the opening scene of Season of the Chosen, which went live earlier this week. In it, Cabal Empress Caiatl tells Reddick’s character, Zavala, to bend his knees in accepting an alliance against his mutual enemies. Zavala refuses and they split up, starting the last round of alien bloodshed in the game.
This led some players to joke that Zavala should really have come in and reminded the Empress of how many times players have collectively kicked Cabal’s asses in the past. The great villains have become difficult to sell in a game that involves cultivating them and nauseum for legal looting. And then a new Destiny meme was born, and later immortalized thanks to his completely serious Reddick performance:
