LaMarcus Aldridge, the Blazers meeting will not take place, according to the report

Now you can rule out a possible reunion between LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jason Quick from Atlético reported Thursday afternoon that Aldridge for the Blazers will not be happening. Quick noted that the Blazers will not play a big enough role for Aldridge with the return of the big shot Jusuf Nurkic and Enes Kanter this season.

Aldridge, 35, was officially purchased by the San Antonio Spurs today and has become a free agent to sign with any team he wants. The Spurs and Aldridge mutually agreed to part ways earlier this month.

The idea of Aldridge and a possible reunion with the Blazers was linked, considering that he spent the first nine seasons of his career at Portland and could potentially reinforce his attacking court. He signed a four-year, $ 80 million contract with San Antonio as a free agent in 2015, after playing nine seasons for the Blazers. He was chosen as the runner-up in the 2006 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls before having his rights negotiated with Portland.

Miami is considered the main team to hire Aldridge, accordinglyESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Aldridge plans to speak with several teams before finalizing a decision.

It looks like Portland won’t be one of them.
