Lakers v Celtics result: LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead as LA postpones Boston’s final attack

The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics renewed their historic rivalry on Saturday night, and this latest entry did not disappoint. After a case of comings and goings, the Lakers escaped with a 96-95 victory after the last two seconds of the Celtics did not slow down.

Anthony Davis had his ball stolen in the final seconds, which led to the Celtics’ winning opportunity, but overall he played a fantastic game. His 27 points and 14 rebounds were both the team’s highlights, as he led and took advantage of a smaller Celtics team.

As usual, it was Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way for the Celtics. This young pair combined 58 points out of 25 out of 37 on the field. The Celtics’ big story, however, is Marcus Smart’s health. He fell screaming in pain at what looked like a potential Achilles injury. The team announced that it is officially a calf strain, but the Smart is ready to do an MRI scan in the near future to determine the extent of the damage.
