Lake County Announces First Vaccinations for People Over 65

LAKE COUNTY, Florida. – Lake County will begin vaccinating people over 65 in two locations starting Wednesday, with plans for more dates in the near future.

During this first phase, Lake County will vaccinate the following populations: residents and employees of long-term care facilities; people aged 65 and over; and health personnel with direct contact with the patient.

Vaccination sites will be at Cooper Memorial Library and Lake Sumter College.

Vaccines are free, but you need to make an appointment. There may be an opportunity for walk-ins based on cancellations and availability of appointments.

To register, qualified people must call 352-742-4830 from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 4 pm. Bring an identity document and, if you are a health worker, a copy of your medical license, identification badge or current paycheck.

The vaccine is not expected to be available to the general population, including younger residents or workers outside the frontline, by the end of spring.
