Lady Gaga made a big fashion statement at the inauguration of Joe Biden on Wednesday, presenting the National Anthem in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture outfit consisting of a navy blue jacket, voluminous red skirt and a huge gold dove brooch to symbolize the peace.
But many on social media couldn’t help but compare his dramatic look to that used by Effie Trinket in the “Hunger Games” films – and his bird brooch with a mockingjay brooch.
“Lady Gaga said,“ Capitol? Say no more fam ”And pulled your mood from hunger games”, a person tweeted, while another I wrote, “Congratulations to Lady Gaga’s dress for her success in the hunger games”.
Tweeted a third, “Lady Gaga is serving Effie Trinket on the Capitol.”
Jennifer Lopez also performed at the inauguration, singing “This Land Is Your Land” in an all-white Chanel costume that honors the suffragette movement.
Demi Lovato, John Legend and others are scheduled to perform at upcoming events on Wednesday.
