LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Los Angeles County health officials updated the county’s travel statement on Monday in response to the new federal guidance issued last week.
According to the updated guidance issued on Friday by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can travel without testing or quarantine.

Under the new county recommendation, travelers who have not been fully vaccinated should be quarantined for seven full days if they have a negative test within three to five days of arriving in the county. If they are not tested, they must be quarantined for 10 full days.
“You do not need to be tested or quarantined if you are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months,” said CDC officials. “You must still follow all other travel recommendations.”
The guidance says that “fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to obtain and spread COVID-19. “

“For example, fully vaccinated grandparents can fly to visit their healthy grandchildren without taking a COVID-19 test, or self-quarantine, as long as they follow the other recommended prevention measures,” said CDC director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky , at a briefing at the White House on Friday.
CDC and LA county officials advise travelers to continue wearing masks on public transport and recommend that travelers practice social detachment and wash their hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.
People who have not been vaccinated are still encouraged by the CDC to postpone any travel, “because travel increases your chance of obtaining and disseminating COVID-19”.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the county reported a new death from COVID-19 and 366 additional cases, noting that the numbers tend to be artificially low on Mondays due to notification delays over the weekend.
