Fans would probably prefer to see the San Francisco 49ers stay with Jimmy Garoppolo instead of giving up significant capital to any potentially available defender not named Deshaun Watson. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports noted in the pre-game coverage of the chain’s Super Bowl LV that 49ers are among the teams “very interested” in acquiring the Watson from the Houston Texans, if one is available.
“Deshaun Watson, he still really wants to get out of Houston,” said La Canfora. “The Texans are saying to the teams, ‘We are not negotiating with him.’ This can change with the draft. I can tell you, the 49ers, the Panthers (are) among the teams very interested in Deshaun Watson, as well as the Jets. “
Competition for Watson could be fierce if Texans try to move him. It is not known how long the 49ers, if really interested, would be willing to compete in a bidding war. Of course, Watson has some influence on where he potentially goes, thanks to the no-trade clause in his contract. He would have to approve any destination if he could force a trade.
Speaking of the New York Jets, La Canfora feels that his quarterback, Sam Darnold, can also be traded, especially if Watson is at stake for them. Would San Francisco be interested?
“Sources told me that 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan (is) very interested in Sam Darnold,” adds La Canfora. “If that is compatible, follow me here, the 49ers would negotiate with Jimmy Garoppolo, and sources say that Bill Belichick would love to have a Jimmy G meeting in New England.”

ESPN’s Barnwell proposes switching 3 teams sending Deshaun Watson to 49ers
By David Bonilla

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell prefaced his most recent film by declaring, “I don’t think the Houston Texans should trade Deshaun Watson.” The star quarterback is too good a talent to even think about getting rid of him. Of course, the thinking process changes when your quarterback gives a strong impression that he doesn’t want to throw another snap at you. The relationship between Watson and the Texans has soured, with many expecting the three-time Pro Bowl star quarterback to seek an exchange. Barnwell added: “If he wanted to leave, I would strongly encourage Cal McNair to do whatever it takes to make Watson change how he feels. Negotiation should only be the absolute last resort.” Barnwell rated the

49ers among many possibilities in an extremely unpredictable situation by Deshaun Watson

One thing is evident in the NFL.com article examining possible landing sites for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson – no one has any idea how this will end. Seven different contributors were asked to predict the outcome of the Texans-Watson saga, and this resulted in six different responses. The New York Jets, chosen by Jeffri Chadiha and Marc Ross, were the only team nominated more than once. The other teams mentioned were Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins. The Colts, chosen by Nate Burleson, are always an interesting option to listen to. If you’re Texans, you want to be forced to part ways

Cowherd: 49ers should be Deshaun Watson’s top destination choice “for a mile”
By David Bonilla

Deshaun Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract, which means he has veto power over any destination the Houston Texans choose for him through negotiation. Watson and the Texans are at odds and the quarterback wants to leave. He is in a unique situation, because if the Texans grant his exchange request, he can dictate where he goes. Although FS1 host Colin Cowherd recently shared why he thought the 49ers would not be a good fit for Watson, he said this week that San Francisco should be at the top of the quarterback’s drop-off list – and that’s not enough not even close. “Number 1 would be San Francisco for a mile,” said Cowherd. “They are, without Deshaun Watson, one of the top five

Vick in communication with Deshaun Watson, suggests 49ers as a good fit

Deshaun Watson wants to leave Houston. Texans are saying they have no plans to change their star quarterback. The situation between the player and the team may not be close to a resolution. Former NFL defender Michael Vick is in contact with Watson and has a suggestion about a potential landing spot if the Texans’ pass could force a switch. Watson has an advantage. The no-trade clause in his contract allows him to approve or deny potential landing sites. But first, he has to convince Texan brass to yield to his commercial demand. “I’m going to have a conversation with [Watson] later today, “Vick told Nick Wright of FS1 while replacing Colin Cowherd in The Herd.” We just talked about it a few minutes ago and we’re going to talk about it, just in
