‘La Brea’, ‘American Auto,’ ‘Grand Crew’ Land NBC Series Orders

NBC is starting its prime time programming for the 2021-22 TV season early, delivering drama series orders La Brea and comedies American Auto and Grand Crew, TVLine learned.

La Brea stars Natalie Zea (The deviation, Justified) as a mother whose family is destroyed when a huge hole opens in Los Angeles, separating the character of Zea and her son from her husband and daughter. “When part of the family finds themselves in an inexplicable primitive world, alongside a distinct group of strangers, they must work to survive and unravel the mystery of where they are and whether there is a way back home,” according to the description official. TVLine hears that Michael Raymond-James (Once Upon a time), who was among the originally announced cast, faced scheduling conflicts due to pandemic-related delays, but could return to the project in the future.

American Auto NBC Series OrderAmerican Auto, coming from Superstore EP Justin Spitzer, is a single-camera comedy set at the Detroit headquarters of a major American auto company, “where an awkward group of executives tries to rediscover the company’s identity in the midst of a rapidly changing industry.” SNL Former student Ana Gasteyer leads a cast that includes Jon Barinholtz, Harriet Dyer, Humphrey Ker, Michael B. Washington, Tye White and X Mayo.

Order of the NBC series Grand CrewGrand Crew stars ArrowEcho Kellum and You got it!Nicole Byer is part of a group of black friends who “unveil the ups and downs of life and love in a wine bar” together. The cast of the single-camera comedy also includes Justin Cunningham, Carl Tart and Aaron Jennings; Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer Phil Augusta Jackson will write the pilot and serve as an EP.
