Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets bought the house for George Floyd’s family, says former NBA player Stephen Jackson

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving bought a home for George Floyd’s family, according to former NBA player Stephen Jackson.

Jackson, who was a close friend of the late Floyd, revealed on the podcast “The Rematch” that Irving, along with other celebrities, sought to help Floyd’s family.

“Kyrie Irving bought them a house. Lil Wayne’s manager bought them a Mercedes-Benz. Barbra Streisand gave them Disney shares,” said Jackson.

The purchase took place five to six months ago, a source close to Irving confirmed to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

Floyd, a black man, died in Minneapolis in May while in police custody, after a white officer knelt on Floyd’s neck for more than seven minutes. His death sparked a wave of protests across the country.

Irving has been constantly active out of court on issues of social justice.

In July, he pledged $ 1.5 million to supplement the income of WNBA players who chose not to play the 2020 season in their bubble, either for coronavirus reasons or for social justice reasons.

Last week, while away from the team, Irving appeared on a call from Zoom to others who showed support for a prosecutor’s campaign in Manhattan.

Irving lost seven consecutive games due to a combination of personal reasons, quarantine imposed by the NBA and an intensification of basketball activities before his return. He has averaged 27.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists in seven games this season for Brooklyn.
