Kyle Rittenhouse must avoid white supremacy, weapons, drink: judge

Kyle Rittenhouse, the Illinois teenager accused of fatally shooting two people during protests in Wisconsin last year, has to stay away from white supremacists, guns and booze, a judge decided.

The decision came after Rittenhouse, who is free on $ 2 million bail, was spotted drinking at a bar in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, and posed for a photo with two men who made an “OK” sign – a supposed white power symbol.

Prosecutors asked that Rittenhouse’s bail conditions be changed as soon as the photo emerged.

A Wisconsin judge compelled him, declaring that Rittenhouse “must not be intentional in conduct with any person or group of people known to harm, threaten, harass or threaten others based on their race, beliefs on the subject of religion, color, nationality or genre.”

The 18-year-old is also prohibited from obtaining a firearm and drinking alcohol.

The legal drinking age in Wisconsin is 21, but Rittenhouse was legally allowed to drink at the bar because he was with his mother.

Rittenhouse was 17 when he joined an armed militia on August 25, ostensibly to protect business in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during protests against the murder of Jacob Blake, a black man who was shot seven times in the back by a white police officer.

Rittenhouse fired his assault rifle during the protest, killing Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. The shooting also injured Gaige Grosskreutz, officials said.

He has since pleaded not guilty to murder charges stemming from the shootings, claiming that he shot self-defense.
