Kyle Pitts is defeated by the Eagles in Todd McShay’s simulated draft

The NFL is a confrontational-focused league and no weapon to join the league is more versatile than Kyle Pitts, the star of the Florida Gators.

While experts debate whether the Eagles need a quarterback or a wide receiver, Pitts provides Nick Sirianni with the best of both worlds, offering Jalen Hurts a tight end of capturing passes on the body of a wide receiver.

Todd McShay agrees, and the NFL draft expert for ESPN makes Pitts fall onto the Eagles’ lap in 6th overall position in his mock 3.0 draft.

6. Philadelphia Eagles
Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

Despite the Eagles’ glaring weakness at the wide receiver, I’m confusing Pitts at No. 6. It would be the tenth time that a tight end was drafted before the first wide receiver off the table, and only four other ends have been taken in the top six here’s the thing: Pitts is more than just a tight end. He is a confrontational nightmare that he can line up everywhere, and his great speed, hands and size of 1.80 m make him extremely difficult to contain. Philadelphia should add free agency receiver assistance, but a Pitts-Dallas Goedert duo is a dream come true for any offensive coordinator.

Tim McManus on his attack on the Eagles: With Zach Ertz being negotiated or released, Pitts would immediately assume a co-title role alongside Goedert. The Eagles used tight double-ended sets, the league’s maximum 35% of the time last season – a number that would skyrocket towards the 2019 total (52%) with Pitts in the fold.

The Philadelphia native is a rare prospect built in Raider mode Darren Waller and would immediately be the guy in Shane Steichen’s attack.

Pitts can create his own split, has great ball skills and can win clashes with defenders.

Finalist for the Mackey (TE) and Biletnikoff (WR) awards, Pitts ended the 2020 season with 43 receptions for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns, despite playing only eight games.

Pitt’s 12 touchdown catches are the second most for a tight end in SEC history.
