Kyle Mooney Cut for Time ‘SNL’ Sketch Has Spanks

“Web Exclusive” is really just an elegant way of saying “we didn’t want to include this on the show, sorry Kyle Mooney”. It’s a shame, because Mooney’s pre-recorded eccentric Saturday Night Live skits have a strong and unique comic voice, even though that voice is making other cast members uncomfortable. This is the case with Mooney’s latest sketch, called “Kyle and Friends”, in which he tries to make some friends in time for Valentine’s Day. The problem is that he keeps trying to win over his castmates with praise and gifts, and in his efforts to be casual, he keeps hitting them. When no one comes to Mooney’s Valentine’s Day Lil Wayne rum kicker, guest presenter Regina King gives him a stimulating talk: “Look. I like you Kyle. But if you don’t want to be a loser, you’re going to have to stop acting like one. ”Mooney can’t handle the truth, so he hires Aidy Bryant dressed as the guy from Me, tonya to take a shot. It is one of his darkest sketches, made even more scary by the lack of audience laughter in the studio. The fact that this episode had a complete sketch about shrunken white men, and Mooney has outgrown them all, is an acting feat.
