Kyle Kuzma’s worst free-throw attempt is incredible

Kyle Kuzma, of the Los Angeles Lakers, gave TV announcers, and the entire Golden State Warriors bench, something they may never have seen before: an attempt at a technical foul free throw with an aerial ball.

During the second quarter of the Lakers’ victory over the Warriors on Monday night, Kuzma attempted a free-throw on a technical foul that didn’t fail, but really failed. He didn’t hit the edge, he hit the table, he missed everything. The commentators who started the game were almost certain that they had never seen anyone throw a free throw like that before – never – but the Warriors bank’s reaction was even better. They totally lost their heads. Draymond Green ended up laughing on the sideline.

Nor does it appear that anyone in the Warriors has ever seen a technical foul free throw with an aerial ball. If not, here are a few more angles.

One of the studio’s analysts did not think the Warriors bench was right to react that way to the free throw, saying, “Look at the score.” Although the Warriors ended up losing 128-97, they only lost 10 when Kuzma made that hilarious free-throw attempt. But honestly, it shouldn’t matter if they were winning or losing by 10 or losing by 30. It is your right, as human beings, to have an overreaction and overreaction when they see something silly, and it will remain your right until The NBA makes the fun of losing teams illegal.

Kuzma blamed an earthquake

Kuzma’s free throw airball was quite memorable, so he was asked about it during his post-game media session. Kuzma must have been thinking about how to explain this and had an absurd answer.

That’s right: Kuzma blamed an earthquake for his worst free-throw attempt. With the game being played in San Francisco, that’s not a bad excuse. If it were perhaps in the early 1800s, before we had the technology to measure earthquakes, it was possible that he would have escaped with impunity.

Unfortunately for Kuzma, it is 2021 and we can find out if there was an earthquake by checking a website or Twitter. According SF QuakeBot Twitter feed, there hasn’t been a strong earthquake in the San Francisco area in the past few days. Kuzma did not offer an alternative explanation, but if he wants to blame something ridiculous that cannot be verified, he could only say that small microscopic elves have climbed into his shoes and unbalanced him.
