Kris Jenner had to become financially literate after separating from her late husband, Robert Kardashian.
In a new interview with WSJ. magazine, the mother of six revealed that she initially had no idea of the family’s finances when she married Kardashian. However, after she separated from Kardashian in 1991, Jenner, then 36, was immediately forced to put her money management skills in order.
In a revealing recollection, Jenner reveals a conversation she had with a close friend who left her “embarrassed” by her lack of awareness of her finances.
“One day, my friend Shelli Azoff told me when I was going through my divorce [from Robert], ‘How much is your gardener?’ And I said, “I don’t know,” revealed Jenner. “And she said, ‘Don’t you know?’ That was the turning point for me: I was ashamed of not knowing. “

After separating from Kardashian, Jenner noted that it was when she realized that “she had to compose herself”.
“I woke up one day with responsibilities I didn’t have the day before,” said Jenner in the interview. “And I needed to find that out. And the good news is that I pay attention … I learn fast and I knew I had to compose myself.”

“And I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment from being able to settle everything and pay my own bills and earn my own money and do my own taxes,” said Jenner happily. “And there were times when I didn’t have a lot of money, but it was very organized.”
Moving forward today, Jenner is a successful businesswoman.

Kris Jenner ended up figuring out how to ‘pay my own bills, earn my own money and do my own taxes’ to become the successful entrepreneur she is today.

“I’m interested in the different ways people make money – and what’s going on around the world. And I’m interested in different businesses and how they evolve and how they become successful,” explained Jenner. “I just like the business world.”
And Jenner has a lot of experience as a business tycoon. The 65-year-old reality show star has her hand in all of her children’s brands and sponsorship deals, reportedly getting a 10% cut.
For example, she was credited as the mentor behind daughter Kylie Jenner’s eponymous beauty empire, Kylie Cosmetics, which sold a 51% stake in the cosmetics company Coty last year for $ 600 million, effectively evaluating the company at $ 1.2 billion.
She also participated in the development of Kim Kardashian’s KKW Beauty, in which Coty bought a 20% stake last month for $ 200 million.

Following the success of his daughters’ cosmetic lines, it was reported in February that Jenner was starting his own beauty cosmetics line.
Momager registered the trademark “Kris Jenner Beauty”, “Kris Jenner Skin” and “Kris Jenner Skincare”, according to documents obtained by E! News sent earlier this month. It is unclear whether Jenner will debut his own products with a different brand or categories.
In addition, Jenner is about to launch a line of herbal cleaning and self-care products, Safely, with Chrissy Teigen and Good American CEO Emma Grede, according to WSJ.
