In the last month of 2020, many wrestling companies started talking about the possibility of working together; AAA and CMLL cannot get along.
AEW and IMPACT Wrestling started working together, and who knows what 2021 will bring to these two companies. Triple H also said that WWE is “open for business” when it comes to potential partnerships and working with other companies, so it’s an exciting time to be a fan of professional wrestling.
Still, the two biggest wrestling promotions in Mexico are doomed to work together for a variety of reasons. The last time the two companies worked together, it didn’t end well, with the fights more like a shot between the fighters than a job.
Konnan, who worked for WCW, IMPACT Wrestling, Lucha Underground and numerous other promotions around the world, tried to get AAA and CMLL to work together in the past, but it just didn’t work out.
Konnan tried to help AAA and CMLL work together
Recently, talking to Michael Morales Torres of Lucha Libre Online, Konnan spoke openly about his frustrations about AAA and CMLL not giving up their past to build a better future for both companies.
“I tried to help them work together. But there is a natural paranoia. One company may not trust the other or it has had problems in the past and the scar has not yet healed. And I say, ‘Man … What does it matter? What matters is to give people something different. Your champion comes here. The champion from here to there. ‘You bring a fighter and do a 3-month program here and another fighter over there. And we are all helping each other. It is not that, for example, New Japan (NJPW) does not work with us (AAA) because it works with CMLL, that is, Consejo. Consejo (CMLL) does not work with AAA due to a problem between two men who are no longer here (the two founders are dead).
“Imagine that guy! I don’t even think Dorian (AAA owner) was born when this problem started. Maybe he was just a boy. Sofia (owner of CMLl) was just a girl. I don’t think they even know each other. I don’t know if I explain myself. There they are dragging. Once they had an event here called “Padrísimo”. Televisa (TV network) made the two companies (AAA and CMLL) work together. Yes, and they really fought each other. REAL! CMLL fanboys are like WWE fans, but worse. They are played as if you have no idea. Can you imagine if these companies did something together? They would fill the entire country for years But there are egos. There is nothing but ego. “
Would you like to see CMLL and AAA working together? What do you think it would take for these two companies to put their differences aside in order to do business with each other? Let us know by sounding in the comments section below.
