Rumors circulating today from a week-long press release suggest that Japanese entertainment conglomerate Konami has closed its video game division. Konami assures us that it is not.
On a press release dated January 15 the Japanese company announced the dissolution of its three production divisions, along with the change of personnel to employees previously in charge of the production departments. What is happening in that announcement, according to an official statement given to Kotaku by Konami, it’s just a consolidation of departments.
The statement said “The announcement made refers to an internal restructuring, with the Production Divisions being consolidated. We did not close our video game division. “
So don’t worry, Konami will continue to do that FOOT football game and everything else you do today. Yu-Gi-Oh and such.
