Kojima Productions is expected to announce its next game ‘very soon’, says art director

According to studio art director Yoji Shinkawa [54 articles]”href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/people/yoji-shinkawa/ “> Yoji Shinkawa, who was asked if he could share any details about the company’s second game during a video interview with Al Hub.

“Well, yes, I’m doing something for sure, and I can say that we can probably announce it soon,” said Shinkawa, a former Hideo Kojima [80 articles]”href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/people/hideo-kojima/ “> Hideo Kojima’s collaborator who is best known for his character and mecha design work in the Metal Gear franchise.

Kojima Productions confirmed in October 2020 that it was preparing for a new game project. The Death Stranding [103 articles]”href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/death-stranding/ “> The developer of Death Stranding said at the time that he was looking for” the best talent in the class “to fill 25 open positions in Tokyo studio.

Kojima sparked his next project since the release of Death Stranding in November 2019. That month, he suggested that he was watching horror movies in preparation for a future project and, in April 2020, said he would like to make a “revolutionary” horror game one day.

The following month, Kojima said he recently had an “important” development project canceled, but that he was “in the early stages of planning” for his next game. More recently, he released his next game on Twitter, with images that suggested it could be Death Stranding 2.

Death Stranding actor Norman Reedus had previously stated that he was “in negotiations” to work on another project with Kojima and suggested that it could be related to Death Stranding.

In January 2020, Kojima was quoted as saying that he would like to try to make smaller games, such as episodic and digital-only titles, while working on the studio’s next major release.

The designer also previously expressed a desire to explore a “new game format” enabled by cloud gaming platforms.
