Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 launch rumors this year

Last week, we heard new rumors about restarting the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic be in development. While it is difficult to know how much validity this rumor can have, even if it does not materialize, KOTOR could be making a comeback in 2021 in a different way.

Another rumor came from Jordan Maison claiming that the new ports in the first two Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic the games should be released sometime this year. Maison notes that this would be separated from the previously rumored remake for the franchise that may also launch in the future. And while extensive gaming platforms were not mentioned, the Nintendo Switch was a console specifically that Maison said it hopes to see KOTOR 1 and two come to.

Considering what has happened to other Star Wars video games in recent years, this is a change that would make a lot of sense. As Maison himself noted, ports in the Star Wars: Jedi Knight games and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer were released on modern hardware last year. With that in mind, for ports in the Knights of the old republic the games are now potentially emerging in the same way is not very unlikely.

The only downside is that if it does happen, we currently don’t know when it might happen. Maison did not mention a release window for the ports, assuming he has heard of one. As such, it is difficult to know when we should start looking for more information about these new iterations of popular games to come.

That said, if we hear anything in the future, we will obviously inform you about everything here at ComicBook.com. You can continue to follow all of our future coverage related to Knights of the old republic right here in the meantime.
