With the College Football Playoff semifinals just days away, ESPN analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Greg McElroy announced on Tuesday that they tested positive for COVID-19.
Both went to Twitter to announce the positive tests and say that they both seem to be feeling well.
“Earlier this week, I tested positive for COVID,” Herbstreit tweeted. “Fortunately, I feel good and my family is fine, but following the protocols will keep me at home. I will be working from home on January 1st at College GameDay (9 am-12pm) and later that day on the call to the Sugar Bowl with Chris (Fowler), Maria (Taylor) and Tom (Rinaldi). I can’t wait for the rematch between Clemson and Ohio State. “
Meanwhile, McElroy – a former Alabama defender – will lose his assignments for the Cotton Bowl and the Rose Bowl.
“This is my favorite week of the year. I was so excited to go home, to DFW, to call (Cotton Bowl game) and then be on the radio call to (Rose Bowl game), ”McElroy tweeted. “Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID. I’m disappointed, but I feel good and hope to be back soon. I thank everyone! “
McElroy was supposed to be on ESPN’s call to the Cotton Bowl, which is scheduled for Wednesday at AT&T Stadium between No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 7 Florida. The start is set for 6 pm (7 pm Eastern Time).
In September, Herbstreit was exposed to COVID and the test was negative and participated in the “GameDay”.
