Legendary choir director and gospel singer Kirk Franklin apologized after an audio leak of him delivering a profane speech against his distant son went viral.
Kerrion Franklin recorded part of a call that included a heated discussion with the Grammy winner 16 times and posted the audio on his Instagram, which quickly went viral and started to become a trend on Twitter. In the discussion, Kirk makes a swearing speech against his 32-year-old son when they threaten to beat themselves up.
The artist accessed Twitter on Saturday to issue an apology to anyone offended by their language. In the brief clip, he tried to contextualize the video.

“Many of you know that I have an older son named Kerrion Franklin. In May, he will be 33,” Kirk begins the video message. “For many years, we had a toxic relationship with him as a family. We tried for many years, through counseling, through therapy, to try to rectify this particular family matter. Recently, my son and I had an argument that he chose to record I felt extremely disrespected in that conversation and lost my patience and said words that were inappropriate and I sincerely feel sorry for all of you. I sincerely apologize. “
He concluded: “I want you to know that, as a father, during that conversation, I called the family therapist and put him on the phone to try to help. He never touched that role in the recording … I’m not perfect. I’m human and I’m going to make mistakes and I’m trying to get it right. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. ”

The original leaked audio included Kirk calling his son “b —- a–“, threatening to set foot on his skinny mother … “and mocking Kerrion for being poor.
Kerrion had previously accused his father of negligence in 2018, according to Ebony Magazine, and the pair have been estranged for several years.
Franklin shares two sons, Kennedy and Caziah, with his wife, Tammy Franklin, and adopted his daughter, Carrington, from a previous relationship.

In response to his father’s apology, Kerrion accessed his Instagram Story Sunday to note that he is not satisfied with his father’s apology and claimed that he was inconsistent with his advice.

In a post showing an older photo shoot the family did with Jet Magazine in 2006, he noted that it was the last time he was allowed to pose with the family and even claimed that the family neglected him. However, he asked his followers not to go after their father, regardless of their feud.
