Few players in NFL history have been where Dak Prescott is in his current contract situation.
Drew Brees became the first defender in NFL history to play under the franchise brand. After the last season of 2005 with the Chargers, Brees left for the Saints on their own initiative.
Kirk Cousins played twice under the franchise brand in Washington before leaving as a free agency in 2018.
In 2020, Prescott became the third quarterback in NFL history to play under the franchise brand. He could become the second to play under a second etiquette, joining Cousins. If Cowboys fail to strike a long-term deal with their quarterback by March 9, they are expected to use the $ 37.7 million franchise mark on it.
That would give Cowboys four months to get a long-term deal with Prescott or risk their possible exit in 2022.
Cousins joined the PFTPM last week and asked him if he had shared any advice with Prescott. Cousins emphasized that he has not spoken to Prescott recently, but shared his experience of embracing the franchise brand.

The Cowboys continue to express optimism that they will do business, and Prescott continues to say that he wants to stay in Dallas for a long time. But the fact remains that the sides had nearly two years to strike a long-term deal and still need to find common ground.
