On Wednesday, Georgia coach Kirby Smart officially confirmed that Will Muschamp will join the Bulldogs as a defensive analyst for the 2021 season.
Muschamp, who played his college in Georgia with Smart, recently spent five years as head coach in South Carolina and before that he was head coach of the Gators. He spent a year as Auburn’s defensive coordinator.
Muschamp will earn $ 300,000 with Georgia this season, and Smart described what exactly Muschamp will do to earn that salary.
“He has already made a lot of strides in terms of helping me help our team,” said Smart, for DawgNation. “He will be able to help train the coaches and will work with the defensive side of the ball. It is very useful to have a guy who was technician in two places at our conference. “
Despite what his coaching history shows, Muschamp has always known how to train a defense and will be a very valuable resource for the Bulldogs this season.
The secondary, in particular, is a prominent position for Smart this off season, as Georgia sees a lot of turnover coming next year, including defense coach Charlton Warren, who left for Indiana and was replaced by Jahmile Addae .
