Kinzinger: GOP will become ‘regional party’ if it doesn’t change

“If you don’t want to change, this is a decision that Republicans must make,” Kinzinger told CNN. “If that is the case in the long run, I think we will lose the elections and be a regional party that will not compete on the national scene.”

“I think part of saving the Republican Party is just being very clear about what the Republican Party has become,” said Kinzinger. “We have a great story, I think, but now we are off track.”

“We get in many, you have to be this or that. I just want you to tell the truth to the American people, “he said about the PAC in February.” And I want you not to spread conspiracies and use a little optimism occasionally, this is a very low level, but it is a low level that eliminates many people. ”

Recent polls, however, show a solid majority of Republican voters in favor of the former president, even after the January 6 uprising.

At the end of last month, Kinzinger said the Republican Party is at risk of being reduced to minority status in both chambers in Congress “forever” if it does not make great efforts to get out of Trump.

“I don’t know what it looks like, all I know is that I can really rest in peace, knowing that I will fight as hard as I can for a Republican Party to function normally,” he said.

A pro-Trump Republican announced her intention to give Kinzinger the primaries in her next election.
