Kinney Drugs makes appointments for the entire supply of the coronavirus vaccine in 5 hours

Syracuse, NY – Kinney Drugs made appointments for its entire supply of 7,500 doses of coronavirus vaccine in just five hours on Monday.

The Gouverneur-based drugstore chain announced Monday morning that it would administer the Modern Covid-19 vaccine to people aged 75 and over by appointment at all of its 75 pharmacies in New York, including 16 in Onondaga County, making it the first drugstore chain to offer the vaccine.

Within five hours, people made appointments through the network’s website for the entire supply of 7,500 doses of Kinney.

“The response has been tremendous and, currently, all commitments are SCHEDULED; however, additional consultations will be opened as more vaccines become available, ”said the company on its website. “We ask that you DO NOT call the local store, as they are focused on serving patients and will not have additional information.”

Neal Gorman, a spokesman for the company, said the teams at the chain’s pharmacies collectively received thousands of inquiries about the vaccine.

The company’s initial vaccine stock is sufficient for five days of consultations. Gorman said the chain expects to receive additional doses and plans to open its online scheduling tool for consultations until February 15, pending confirmation of additional allocations.
