South Carolina tight end coach Erik Kimrey you can have your first recruitment win on the first day of your job. Tight end Nick Muse is on the air about whether or not he will return to South Carolina’s football program next year.
Kimrey, however, spoke to Muse on Sunday night, which was his first official day at work, and the feedback he received from the senior tight end was encouraging.

“I talked to Nick Muse last night and I had a great conversation with him, “said Kimrey on Monday.” I am confident that he will be back next year. He’s still working on some things in terms of talking to some people, but we had a wonderful conversation. He seems to be a great guy and I hope he comes back and is a great leader on this team. We need it. “
Muse finished high school for four years and spent two years at William & Mary before transferring to be part of the Gamecocks program. Muse tore his ACL in the middle of his junior season, but was on the field the whole time in 2020 for South Carolina.
Muse was the team’s second best receiver this season, receiving 30 passes for 425 yards with a touchdown. These numbers were only behind Shi Smith, who took 57 passes for 633 yards with four touchdowns.
Towards the end of the season, Muse said he can imagine returning to South Carolina for a fifth year in college football. He would also have the option of transferring again with one year of remaining eligibility, or he could try his luck in professional football.
On November 28, he noted that if Bobby Bentley was back as the head coach, he would definitely go back to Gamecocks. Although he did not say that he would certainly leave if Bentley was not his coach, Kimrey seems to have Muse inclined to make a comeback with the Gamecocks.
Muse has not yet made a declarative statement about his future with the program, but he would certainly be welcome back as one of last year’s most productive players and the most experienced tight end on the list.
