After fans emerged en masse to question the legitimacy of an impressive Bob Ross-style painting that Kim Kardashian says his daughter did, Kardashian’s best friend came to say that 7-year-old North West really is the artist.
Tracy Romulus, whose daughter Ryan is North’s best friend, said the children take serious art classes, which is how North honed his skills.
“The two girls are in art class together and learning oil painting techniques from an instructor,” explained Romulus in an Instagram story. “They spend weeks on a single painting and are extremely proud of themselves when they complete a project.”
Romulus said that North and Ryan follow a curriculum, but “the works are original, starting with a blank canvas and the interpretation of each child”.
Romulus asked people to stop spreading negativity and “doubts about a child’s ability”.
“It is people like you who have children [sic] to dream big or reach their maximum potential ”, she ended the note.
Romulus also shared an Instagram photo of his own daughter’s impressive work.
Social media users with eagle eyes doubted the legitimacy of the painting, given North’s age and the fact that his signature appeared to have been digitally placed on the screen.
Kardashian has not commented on her daughter’s painting since the photo’s first publication.
