Whose house? It’s her home.
Kim Kardashian, as part of her divorce from Kanye West, will maintain the 15,000-square-foot mansion in southern California that the ex-couple bought in 2014, TMZ reported.
Kardashian and West disbursed $ 20 million for the spread, located in Hidden Hills, then sunk another $ 20 million in a massive renovation that West himself allegedly led.
TMZ noted that the decision allows the ex-couple’s four children – North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3 and Salm, 1 – to remain in the only house they have ever known. Kardashian said she loves the house and that most of her family is within a block.
West, on the other hand, supposedly does not have many ties to the exclusive enclave. He also spent a lot of time in Wyoming recently after buying a 9,000-acre ranch in Cowboy State in 2019. It is unclear where he will permanently reside after the allegedly friendly divorce. Kardashian is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the children.
In the prime area, located in the Santa Monica Mountains north of LA, the ex-couple’s Alex Vervoordt-designed house received a cover story in Architectural Digest in March 2020. It was notably marked by an absolute minimalism in design.
“We are not talking about decoration, but a kind of philosophy about how we live now and how we will live in the future,” Vervoordt told AD.
This philosophy is wabi-sabi, a long-standing trademark of Japanese design that promotes “wisdom in natural simplicity”. This resulted in minimal furniture, natural materials and rooms covered with whitish plaster, which social media critics not only called “cold and scary”, but also impractical with children.
The house also has cavernous corridors, two pools, a vineyard and a single sink that cost $ 30,000.
Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February, after seven years of marriage.
