Kim Kardashian reacts to ‘Framing Britney Spears’

Kim Kardashian feels a lot of “empathy” for Britney Spears after watching “Framing Britney Spears”, which she says reminded her of being pregnant with her daughter North West.

“The way the media has played a big role in your life … can be very traumatizing and can really break even the strongest person,” Kardashian, 40, wrote via Instagram Stories on Friday. “No matter how public someone’s life may seem, no one deserves to be treated with such cruelty or judgment for entertainment.”

“When I was pregnant with North, I was suffering from pre-eclampsia, which made me swell uncontrollably,” she continued. “I gained 60 kilos and gave birth almost 6 weeks earlier and cried every day with what was happening to my body, mainly due to the pressure of being constantly compared to what society considered a healthy pregnant woman should be – in addition to being compared Shamu, Baleia, through the media ”.

“Framing Britney Spears” highlighted how Spears, now 39, has been unfairly examined in the media since her youth compared to her male counterparts. Kardashian added on Friday that, looking back on her own experiences in the public eye, she could “remember a time when I felt this way”.

The New York Times / Hulu documentary also showed some of the adverse reactions that her father, Jamie Spears, received due to the singer’s ongoing battle for conservatism. Since its launch in February, many celebrities have spoken out in favor of the #FreeBritney movement, which is opposed to its tutelage, and others, such as Spears’ ex, Justin Timberlake, have publicly apologized for their earlier comments about the pop star.

In 2019, Kardashian revealed that criticism of her pregnant appearance at her first Met Gala in 2013 brought her to tears. “I went home and cried with insecurity”, she wrote on Twitter.

“I was embarrassed weekly with cover stories that made my insecurities so painful that I couldn’t leave the house for months,” wrote the now mother of four on Friday. “It really broke me.”

In 2013, Kardashian said in response to tabloids that examined his weight during pregnancy: “There are maybe two or three covers just this week that say I have 200 pounds. “I’m like, ‘You’re losing 60 pounds’ … I wouldn’t mind if I gained all the weight.”

The CEO of KKW Beauty now says that “fortunately” turned these difficulties into “motivation”, but added: “to think that it did not harm me mentally would be a lie”.

“I’m sharing this just to say that I really hope that everyone involved in the business of embarrassing and intimidating someone to the point of breaking it can reconsider and instead try to show some understanding and compassion,” she concluded. “You never fully know what someone is going on behind the scenes and I learned from my own experiences that it is always better to lead with kindness.”
