The basic cable network is also teaming up with producers Sid Gentle Films to develop potential spinoffs based on supporting characters from the series as a way to continue the award-winning franchise.

The fourth season of the AMC / BBC America drama, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, will be the last. Production on the final eight-episode season will start in the summer in the UK and at locations across Europe for a 2022 premiere on both cable networks. Laura Neal (Sex education) assumes the position of principal writer and showrunner for the fourth season. The series has a tradition of attracting new women to oversee the series as a way of using Killing Eve to help promote the next generation of showrunners. Neal replaces Suzanne Heathcote (third season), who replaced Emerald Fennell (second season), with the latter replacing Waller-Bridge (first season).
In its previous three seasons, Killing Eve – based on Codename Villanelle Luke Jennings novels and financed / distributed by Endeavor Content – helped elevate Comer as well as Fennell. The latter was nominated for three Oscars on Monday, receiving mentions of direction, script and best film for Promising Young Woman. The series itself received two Emmy nominations for best drama series. Oh also took home a SAG award and a Golden Globe for his part.

With the conclusion of Killing Eva, AMC is now bidding farewell to three of its originals with a signature script next year.
