‘Killing Eve’ ends with season 4 on AMC / BBC America in 2022

The basic cable network is also teaming up with producers Sid Gentle Films to develop potential spinoffs based on supporting characters from the series as a way to continue the award-winning franchise.

Killing Evethe end of it is in sight.

The fourth season of the AMC / BBC America drama, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, will be the last. Production on the final eight-episode season will start in the summer in the UK and at locations across Europe for a 2022 premiere on both cable networks. In addition, AMC Networks is working closely with Killing Eve producers Sid Gentle Films to develop potential spinoff ideas that will explore the bigger world of the show outside of Eve (Oh) and Villanelle (Comer).

Sources note that the decision to end the series after four seasons was based on the show’s creativity and had nothing to do with the rich showrunner and original executive producer of the agreement with Amazon, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, signed in 2019. Flea bag creator has a carve-out in its deal with Amazon and remains involved in Killing Eve as an executive producer.

Killing Eve it exploded into popular culture and attracted a dedicated and committed fan base since its first episode, “said AMC Networks president of originals Dan McDermott in a statement on Tuesday.” Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brilliant adaptation of the original material, the unforgettable characters that came to life by Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and the entire cast, along with our Sid Gentle Films partners, took a unique roller coaster ride that left us breathless. … We are looking forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this attractive universe. “

Laura Neal (Sex education) assumes the position of principal writer and showrunner for the fourth season. The series has a tradition of attracting new women to oversee the series as a way of using Killing Eve to help promote the next generation of showrunners. Neal replaces Suzanne Heathcote (third season), who replaced Emerald Fennell (second season), with the latter replacing Waller-Bridge (first season).

In its previous three seasons, Killing Eve – based on Codename Villanelle Luke Jennings novels and financed / distributed by Endeavor Content – helped elevate Comer as well as Fennell. The latter was nominated for three Oscars on Monday, receiving mentions of direction, script and best film for Promising Young Woman. Killing Eve became an immediate award player when it launched in 2018. Comer and Oh were nominated for several Emmys, with the first one taking home the award in 2019. The series itself received two Emmy nominations for best drama series. Oh also took home a SAG award and a Golden Globe for his part.

Killing Eve it has been one of my greatest experiences and I am looking forward to plunging back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon, “said Oh. He added Comer:”Killing Eve it was the most extraordinary journey and for which I will be forever grateful. Thanks to all the fans who supported us and came with us. Although all good things come to an end, it is not over yet. Our goal is to make it unforgettable! “
