The Kia EV6 is scheduled to debut later this month and the Korean automaker has just released some images and teaser videos to cheer us up. As if we needed to.
The all-electric crossover SUV is stylistically based on the Kia Imagine Concept. We tracked images of him in various locations covered by camouflage or coating while he was testing on roads with the internal name Kia CV.
Built on the new E-GMP platform, it will be the brand’s first fully developed electric vehicle. We hope it is exceptional. That’s because he shares his basic technical DNA with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which has just made its debut and was greeted with enthusiasm.
While there are obviously major stylistic differences between these two corporate cousins, there may also be some distinction in the performance department. Just a month ago, we learned that the Kia could reach a range of 311 miles (WLTP), recharge 62 miles (100 km) in four minutes and accelerate from a standstill at sixty miles per hour in just three seconds. Those are some impressive numbers!

If true, that would be surprisingly fast for a vehicle of this size and shape. It seems to us that this will be a slightly different segment than the Hyundai offer, with an emphasis on sportiness. This seems to be emphasized in the new slogan – movement that inspires – expressed in the teaser videos (above and below).
While the press release accompanying the images gives only the first quarter of 2021 as a debut schedule, a slide of the company’s investor’s day points to the 21st of this month, with deliveries starting in July.

The teaser images (gallery above) show a car that captures much of the essence of the original concept vehicle, but has a more livable design. The hood features two dynamic lines that flow from the interior of the headlight assembly to the base of the A-pillar. The flanks have a characteristic crease slightly more than the middle of the doors, but then come closer as you approach the waist line. .
These contours turn into muscular hips on the rear wheels, extending to the rear. The roof, in turn, curves gracefully towards the C-pillar, culminating in a spoiler. The rear window tilts down under its wing.
The rear lights are segmented, as are the front turn signals that surround the LED headlights, and as you can see in the video below, they do their duty sequentially.
All of this results in a design that, even with the lights still off, will generate a lot of excitement and, hopefully, inspire many to dive into electric waters.
