Keyshia Cole and Ashanti finally faced each other for their Verzuz battle on Thursday night.

While the two singers didn’t arrive in time for the event to begin, Cole ended up being more than an hour late. His delay bothered fans, mainly because the show was rescheduled three times. Many regretted the lack of punctuality of the artists in the live comments, with Swizz Beatz even writing, “This is very disrespectful” and “I can’t lie man”.

The singers eventually sat on their thrones and sang their classics, but it was still unclear why Cole was so late. On Friday, her DJ revealed that she was experiencing technical difficulties before the battle started.

“She didn’t want to leave because her screen was blurry,” explained Cole’s DJ in 97.9 The Box. “Beside her, her screen was blurry. She arrived on time. I saw everything. She was there, but she didn’t want to leave because the screen was blurry and things didn’t work out, you know. We couldn’t hear [Ashanti’s] side, so there was a lot of technical stuff going on there. “

Among the many fans who saw Ashanti and Cole with their backs to each other was 21 Savage, who sang the lyrics to Cole’s song “I Remember” on Instagram Live.
