Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently stated that the studio was never overwhelmed by PG-13 ratings when bringing MCU stories and character journeys to the screen, and made it clear that Deadpool is an exception to this policy. During a Disney + panel on the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour on Wednesday, Feige participated in a question and answer session where a participant asked about the possibility for Marvel Studios to create more adult-oriented projects in the future, especially now that the service streaming has expanded its content library with more mature offerings through Star – a new entertainment section that has been added to the platform in several locations.

“I think we target everything we are doing now to children and adults. So I think your question is more adult, or censored,” Feige clarified in his answer before going any further into the subject of assessments.

He then added: “In addition to Deadpool, which has already established itself as a certain genre and a certain classification that we already said we would not change when we started working with Deadpool, which we have, moreover, we” never found a story or a plot or the journey of a character that a PG-13 or the tone or classifications that we have used up to this point have prevented us. “

Feige also said that he is not opposed to the idea of ​​projects with a restricted classification from Marvel, as he explained that he would be open to venture on this avenue if there was a specific project that would suit a different shade and classification structure, but for now, the studio was not hindered by assessments when telling the stories they wanted to tell on the big or small screen.

“We were never stopped by that,” he said. “If we ever go, there could certainly be an argument now that there are other media outlets, like Hulu, like Star, but it hasn’t been the case yet. We were able to identify all kinds of stories we wanted with the tone and the classification structure that we have now. “

Earlier this year, Feige confirmed that the next Deadpool film will be censored and will be part of the MCU – with Ryan Reynolds working on a script now. The news came after some confusion arose over whether the MCU would include (or perhaps could) Deadpool, particularly since no Marvel films had yet crossed into the restricted territory.
