Kevin Feige says Marvel’s Netflix heroes are “in the picture”
This Friday, Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally begins with the release of WandaVision at Disney +. Of course, most Marvel fanatics are eager to see some of the MCU’s biggest names on the small screen. But they also haven’t forgotten about the heroes who previously hosted their own programs on rival streaming services. Marvel’s impending foray on TV has Kevin Feige answering many questions about the fate of Netflix’s street characters. At the moment, there seems to be no concrete plan to bring these heroes to the larger MCU. However, Feige is still not ruling out his return.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Feige addressed the possibility of Reckless, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron fistand The punisher appearing in future Marvel projects. Obviously, the studio’s current focus is on getting new characters to star in their own Disney + series. But, according to Feige, the option is always at stake.
“Everything is on the board,” says Feige. “This is one of the fun things about comics is that the characters appear and disappear and come and go. All of this is inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from these programs. “
Netflix canceled Reckless, Luke Cageand Iron fist at the end of 2018, and later eliminated Jessica Jones and The punisher The following year. Many fans immediately maintained the hope that Marvel was planning revivals for Disney + or Hulu. But according to the terms of their original deal with Netflix, these characters could not appear in any new MCU movies or TV shows until two years after their respective cancellations. Technically, this means that all of these characters will be available for use from next month, as Jessica Jones and The punisher both were eliminated in February 2019. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be happening yet.
