Kevin Durant will waste time because of the COVID-19 protocol

Brooklyn Nets striker Kevin Durant will not play Utah Jazz on Tuesday, according to NBA health and safety protocols COVID-19.

O Nets announced the news on Monday.

The team did not provide further details about Durant’s situation. The Nets star did not break the news.

Durant has already hired COVID-19

Durant announced in March that it has hired COVID-19. Monday’s news doesn’t mean he tested positive again. This means that he has triggered a clause in the NBA’s 134-page manual outlining the league’s health and safety protocols for the new season being played out of the bubble.

For example, several Houston Rockets players, including John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, were forced to quarantine at the beginning of the season after allegedly meeting to get a haircut in an apartment where some of the players tested positive or returned inconclusive tests. James Harden was also quarantined for participating in a “private indoor party” without a mask.

How long will Durant be gone?

Atlético’s Shams Charania reports that Durant should require seven days of quarantine due to contact tracking and potential exposure. Assuming the seven-day window starts on Monday, it means that Durant will also miss the next games against the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Nets started 3-4 in Durant’s first season with the team. Durant played in six of those games and has an average of 28.2 points, seven rebounds and 4.8 assists when shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from a distance of 3 points.

Durant lost all of last season after suffering an Achilles tendon injury during the 2019 NBA finals as a member of the Golden State Warriors.
