Kenyan Drake Heads for His First Free Agency Chance

USA TODAY Sports

Last year, the Cardinals chose to use the transition mark to keep Kenyan Drake’s running back on the team. He signed the one-year bid and had what became a second year of a consecutive contract.

He performed well, winning 955 racing yards in 15 games, adding 137 receiving yards and scoring 10 touchdowns.

This year, the Cardinals did not tag him. They also did not sign it again. He’s probably headed for the open market.

Arizona switched to Drake, who scored the game’s victory touchdown for the Dolphins in the 2018 Miami Miracle game during the 2019 season. He won 643 running yards in eight games with the Cardinals that year, along with 174 receiving yards.

The Cardinals seem to be willing to make Chase Edmonds the top of the tail. Oddsmakers have the Cardinals in the mix to get the Packers Aaron Jones running back.

So it looks like Drake is really going to fall on the open market. It will be interesting to see where it ends and what it gets.
