KENOSHA, Wis. – Prosecutors asked a judge on Wednesday for a new arrest warrant for an Illinois teenager accused of shooting three people, killing two, during an anti-police protest in Wisconsin after he apparently violated his bail conditions.
Kyle Rittenhouse reportedly did not inform the court of his change of address 48 hours after the move, Kenosha County prosecutors alleged in a motion filed with Judge Bruce Schroeder. The motion asks Schroeder to issue an arrest warrant and increase Rittenhouse’s bail by $ 200,000.
Rittenhouse is accused of several charges, including murder, in connection with the August protests. Prosecutors claim he responded to a militia plea to protect business in Kenosha and opened fire on three men, killing Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz. Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, said he acted in self-defense.
He surrendered to the police the day after the shooting, but was released after paying $ 2 million bail. Conservative groups covered the expenses.
The court document filed on Wednesday, February 3, says in part:
“It is important to note that the $ 2 million came from a dubious fundraising campaign on the Internet, and the defendant and his family did not deposit any money for that title. As a result, the defendant is free from custody with minimal incentive to comply his He didn’t deposit money, so he has no financial stake in the title. He already faces the most serious criminal charges possible and life imprisonment, so in comparison, the possible future criminal penalties are insignificant. In fact, the defendant has already demonstrated his carefree attitude by going to a bar immediately after his accusation on January 5, 2021 and drinking 3 beers in the company of the well-known “Proud Boys” while showing white signs of supremacy and wearing a ‘Free as (expletive)’ shirt. “
“Rarely does our community see those charged with murder wandering freely. As a result, the defendant’s bail requires him to update the court in writing within 48 hours of any change of address or phone number.”

The prosecutor’s office also noted in the motion: “Rarely does our community see those accused of murder wandering freely.”
Once again, the public prosecutor is now asking Rittenhouse for $ 200,000 bail. The motion also asks the court to order Rittenhouse to update its address in writing with the court clerk immediately.
A woman who answered the phone at Rittenhouse’s lawyer Mark Reynolds made no comment on Wednesday.
