Kenny Rogers’ wife, Wanda, pays tribute to the late country music icon a year after his death

It’s been a year since the tragic death of country music icon Kenny Rogers.

And on Saturday, his wife Wanda Miller Rogers posted an emotional tribute to her late husband on Instagram, sharing a selection of family photos.

‘A year ago … our lives changed forever … but as KR always said …’ you will never leave until you are forgotten ‘.. ♥ ️ we will always love you,’ the widow captioned the photo album .

Wanda included a retrograde portrait of Kenny hugging his twin sons Jordan and Justin, as well as a moving photo of the family paying homage to the deceased star’s coffin during a memorial service.

Rogers died of natural causes at his home in Sandy Springs, in northern Fulton County, Georgia, at the age of 81.

‘Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes in the care of a hospice and surrounded by his family,’ read his family’s testimony at the time.

Kenny’s family and team also posted a long message celebrating his memory on the late star’s Instagram.

‘It is so hard to believe that it has been a year since Kenny left us. As you can imagine, some days are better than others, so we thank you wholeheartedly for your thoughts, prayers and support during the past year, ‘said the caption.

‘It means a lot to us. Kenny’s memories and the kind words you shared inspired and uplifted us … brought tears to our eyes and made us laugh. No matter what we are going through on any particular day, we know that we will never stop missing him and we will forever celebrate the person he was and his extraordinary musical legacy. Kenny and Wanda were married in 1997 and have stayed together ever since.

The singer and the 53-year-old beauty are the parents of their identical 15-year-old twin sons.

The late musician has been married five times in his lifetime and is also the father of three other children.

Kenny revealed in 2014 that initially when she started dating Wanda, her parents did not approve.

“Her parents are two years younger than me,” he exclaimed to Fox News.

‘They called me when we started dating and said,’ We want you to know that we don’t appreciate what you’re doing with our daughter, ‘and I said,’ First of all, I don’t blame you. I don’t think so either, but I’m going to make you a promise. I will never lie to her and I will never lie to you.

The hoarse-voiced raft retired from the tour in 2017 after a 60-year career spanning jazz, folk, country and pop, with hits like The Gambler, Lucille and Islands in the Stream with Dolly Parton.

Kenny sold tens of millions of albums, won three Grammys and was the star of TV movies based on The Gambler and other songs, which earned him super stardom in the 70s and 80s.

The Grammy Awards paid tribute to the music icon during last week’s ceremony, with longtime friend Lionel Richie singing an exciting version of the 1980 hit Lady.
