Kelsey Grammer to return for Paramount + ‘Frasier’ reboot

Kelsey Grammer will repeat his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in an upcoming reboot of Frasier via Paramount + digital streaming service. The beloved show originally aired for 11 seasons before ending in 2004 with one of the best sitcom endings of all time.

“Having spent more than 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and acting in several, I would like to congratulate Paramount + for its entry into the world of streaming,” Grammer, who will also serve as executive producer on the series, said in a statement. “I look forward to sharing the next chapter in Dr. Frasier Crane’s ongoing journey.”

A spin-off in Health, Frasier followed the psychiatrist’s story as he returned to his hometown, Seattle, and built a career as a radio personality while exploring relationships between family, friends and romantic partners.

The series also starred David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s lovable neurotic and insightful brother, Niles, Peri Gilpin as Frasier’s radio producer and close friend Roz Doyle, and Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon, Frasier’s father’s caregiver and physiotherapist, Martin. Outside the Grammer, none of the original cast members are currently linked to the reboot. John Mahoney, who played Martin, a retired police detective who moved in with Frasier after being shot on duty, died in 2018.

Frasier won 37 Emmy Awards, with Grammer and Pierce each winning four over 11 seasons. THE Frasier the revival news is one of a series of planned Paramount + series reboots, which include the return of the VH1 and MTV franchises Behind the music, Yo! MTV Raps and Disconnected.
