Kelsey Grammer’s dream of returning to her most iconic role is finally coming true.

The Emmy-winning actor and Tony on Wednesday confirmed that a revival of “Frasier” received the green light from Paramount +’s streaming service. Although details are scarce, the reboot is being developed by screenwriters Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli, who will work alongside Grammer as executive producers.

“Having spent more than 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and acting in several, I would like to congratulate Paramount + for its entry into the world of streaming,” Grammer told Deadline. “I look forward to sharing the next chapter in Dr. Frasier Crane’s ongoing journey.”

The release date for the restart has not yet been confirmed. Grammer is currently scheduled to return to television later this year in an untitled ABC series co-starring Alec Baldwin.

Actor Kelsey Grammer is interviewed during the 24th annual Keep Power Alive “Power of Love Gala” charity event for the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Brain Health Center on March 7, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The actor expressed his interest in reviving “Frasier”, which was shown on NBC from 1993 to 2004. The show was initially conceived as a “Cheers” spinoff and followed Dr. Frasier Crane (played by Grammer) as he embarked on a new one. career as a radio presenter in Seattle after he divorced his wife and moved from Boston.

In 2018, Grammer told “Today” that he was “talking to some writers” about a possible restart, noting: “The chances are now probably around 40-60”.

He seemed more confident in those plans a year later, saying that a revival of the show “will definitely happen”, but that he and the creative team were put “on hold a little”.

“We just need to create a team and find someone who wants to give us money for it,” Grammer told journalist Graham Bensinger at the time. The new version, he added, will not happen in Seattle and will focus on the title character “in its next iteration”.

The reboot will give Grammer the distinction of playing Frasier Crane in a total of four scripted series, including “Cheers”, the original “Frasier” and a 1992 crossover episode of “Wings”.
